Heals for Reals

You know what? The human body is amazing. Especially mine.

I mean, when I think about it, it was just two weeks ago and my wounds are nearly done healing themselves up. I'm not wearing any bandages (except over the elbows when heading into public), and it's just the elbows (again) that are not yet done with the scabs. Everywhere else is busy growing its raw, new skin.

In some ways, you could say that the injuries were just scrapes, just flesh wounds. But if you had seen me that night, with all the blood and raw flesh showing, you would have guessed it was worse. A lot worse. And now, I'm a ton better.

Glad to hear you are healing up nicely! The thought of a banged up Ben was very distressing. - KT

I would like to announce that today was the first day in two weeks that I was able to wash my hair using BOTH hands, and able to scratch my back with my left hand; a momentus occasion, indeed!

Other recent days of note:
- first day I could shower my back
- first day I didn't use povidone iodine
- first day not wearing bandages all day
- first day able to bend my arm past 90 degrees

I will be releasing a DVD of season 1 of my adventures with scraped skin, straight-to-DVD, coming to a Blockbuster near you!

I should also note that I would have healed faster if I stopped messing around with the scabs and stopped moving my arms so much to re-open them periodically. But ... ah, well.

I've seen the scabs. They're looking better. Just a few more pickings...

But keep in mind that they're still very pink. And hopefully they won't just stop healing and style discoloured. Burn victims are like that.
