Say It Again, Sam, But Not Too Much

Ever notice that, when you say a word enough times, carefully listening to each syllable, eventually it starts to sound weird? Like the word suddenly sounds strange and ... not right anymore. Even if it is.

Tomorrow.
To-MOR-row.
Tomorrow.
Say it with me.
Tomorrow.
Tomorrow.

I notice the same thing when I type a word, or stare at it for a while.

Occasion.
Delusional.
Monastery.

I wonder if there's a pattern with what kind of word it is. Hmmm. What words have you noticed will do this?

Wait.

Last week, I wrote in an e-mail, "... wait, and wait and wait and wait." By the end of the sentence, I was looking at it and it looked funny. Of course, I don't have quite as many problems as you do, hmmm ....

Some words are harder to pronounce such as: sun shine. if i say it too fast, it sounds weird. Maybe it's my Chinese accent?

I once noticed that with the word "Finger". Who knows why. I'm over it now.
