This and "Do not write in this section" are the two commonly used sentences that I find quite ironic.

'Cause "Intentionally left black" also makes the page not blank anymore. So by the very fact that you are stating your intention, it has violated your intention... :P

And the other one.. by stating that you do not want anyone to write anything there, you in fact have broken your own instruction and have written on the very surface you do not want people to write on..

See the irony??

Exactly.

I first saw that in the provincial exams at the end of high school, and I kept thinking about how stupid it seemed. I mean, sure, I understand they write it so that you don't think you're missing a page of important instructions because of a printing/photocopying error in your exam booklet. But still.

Anyway, I always wonder how I would fix that, if I were the one designing those exam papers. It doesn't pack as much punch if you go:

"This page intentionally left blank. Except that sentence, and this one."

And if you really want to split hairs, you can simply PRINT in the section that says "Do not write in this section". But you're probably putting yourself on thin ice, especially if your high school graduation (and university admission) depends on what you're playing around with!

We are ... ONE nerd? So Mike and I are each half a person? Or do you mean that we're part of a collective like that Trekkie whatever race the Borg or whatever?

And anyway, I'm just sayin'. The sentence itself doesn't make a lot of sense. Seems kind of redundant, like parking your car on the side of the street, and then putting up a sign next to it which reads: "This parking spot is occupied."

Actually, just recently a friend's MSN title said: "Don't ask me if I've seen Brokeback Mountain"...

... umm, doesn't that kind of message just MAKE you want to ask? I would never had thought about it before, but now you mention it... so... have you seen BBM?

to fix prevent the stupid sentence.. you should really say it in the previous page...

"Following page is intentinally left blank".. then you don't have to have a blank page that is not really blank...
