One for the Canadian Chefs

I love Iron Chef, but not so much the original Japanese series as the Iron Chef America ones. (Maybe I'm partial because Alton Brown narrates them.) And it's amazing what the chefs can do in the heat of battle, as a testament to their culinary know-how and nimble cooking.

So it's with great pride that I announce that Rob Feenie has won an Iron Chef battle. His cuisine reigns supreme! Says who? Says the judges. CTV.ca reports that Feenie triumphed over Masaharu Morimoto, which is good, because that guy is a tad bit cocky.

So for you Vancouver locals, if you haven't yet been there, work your way to Feenie's retaurant named (duh) Feenie's. I'm sure they'll be even more booked now, dammit.

Great, now I need to download that episode. I hate not having Food Network here.

Interesting. You know, I tried a little dish from Rob Feenie's stand at some food fair at the Plaza of Nations a few years ago, and you know what? It wasn't very good.

Yeah, you know, I've just lunched there once. i really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the lunch was pretty decent. At least, by Bay Area prices ... too bad this wasn't in the Bay Area.

I know there are a lot of fans of Feenie's (the place) out there. Maybe they can recommend what to eat the next time anyone happens to go?

I'm glad he won though =)

Have yet to see the episode, but Rob was interviewed on CityTV yesterday morning. Apparently, Feenie's refrigerator mysteriously shutdown half way through the show, and his dessert was never able to fully set. Yet...Feenie still won. Could it have been sabotage? No wonder Morimoto was pissed ;-) hehehe

As a pastry chef within the vancouver food circles, my sister said that there are other chefs far more skilled than Feenie, but Feenie has succeeded because of his charisma and ability to market himself.
