It Takes Two?

I just read this line in a recent post on another blog:

"It takes two to make a relationship and it takes two to break one."

Interesting, but I can't really say that I agree. I think it takes two to make it work (and it is work), but it only takes one to mess it up.

Or even a 3rd and a 4th!

I knew this guy who was so happy about getting married, he threw a big engagement party. I guess they threw too great a party, because he found his fiancee in bed with another guy ... and another girl.

Wedding (and the relationship) was immediately called off.

There is an old song.. I can't recall the name nor the melody but I remember part of the lyric.

"It only takes one to build the wall". It just takes one to stop talking or start talking about things that shouldn't be said.

Relationship is alot of work and boy is it alot of work when you have to sleep next to each other after a huge fight.....

No way - it takes 2 to make it work, and it takes 1 to f*ck things up......

Usually one person tries to over compensate for the other person who isn't helping the relationship.

Sometimes we end up being the over-compensater, and sometimes we end up as the the over-compensatee.

On a side note, three, four or more people can make it work...

...gets a little complicated though.

I think it depends on the relationship.. it's a case by case analysis.

I know where you got this quote from...come on, she's young, she will think differently when she's our age...

Rose, did you "figure it out" by the obvious links I left in the blog post? :-)

Yes, I feel sorry for her, because she's just a girl who was crazy in love and is trying to get over the hurt that ensued.

opp..duh! I didn't see the links.. she needs to quit whinning and move on. New Year, New everything...

To follow up on Rose's comment, she's right in that you can't assign 100% of the blame to any one party in the event that the relationship fails. There's usually a trigger that causes somebody to do something incredibly stupid.

But then again, nobody is pointing a gun at your head to do something incredibly stupid either...
